The brown bear is Europe's largest land predator. A brown bear eats both plants and meat and is fond of berries and fruit. They are solitary wanderers, that can travel hundreds of miles through an area alone. Males and females are together only during the mating season.
An adult male weighs nearly 300 kilos. The female is usually smaller. Bears often reach an age of 25-30.
Brown bears are not full hibernators. They like to den in a cave, crevice, or hollow log, during the winter months and can be woken easily
