Jokkmokk, Kvikkjokk, Ritsemjokk and Gällivare (Jiellevárri, Váhčir, Jällivaara Jellivaara) ... that is where you have to be to see Europe's largest natural area with your own eyes. Still the place the old people let their reindeer graze and where the shepherd sings his own traditional songs "the Yoik".
Sápmi, the land of the reindeer. It is a glacial area, with reindeer everywhere. These are domesticated, the cattle of the Sámi. There are no real wild reindeer left anymore, though there is one group left on a peninsula in Russia.
The Laponian area is officially designated by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.
