Roe Deer are very shy and are active mostly at dawn and at dusk. They feed on grass, herbs, leaves, shoots and berries.The winter coat is grey-brown, sometimes black and is mostly moulted in spring.
Only the males have antlers, which are lost during winter, but the antlers regrow in time for the rutting time in late spring and early summer.
